Safe Metal
Nobody knows when metallic silver is discovered, while our ancestors have known its purifying ability for a long time: 2,500years ago, Cyrus the Great in Persia has ordered all armies to use silver jug to keep water as water in silver jug is cleaner than water in other containers. In ancient Rome period, silver nitrate has been used as drug which is recorded in pharmacopoeia published in ancient Rome in 69BC. In 78A.D., Pliny the Elder has described characteristics of silver in his “Nature History”: possess curing effect……especially for speeding up healing wound.
Rich Romans always use silver cups and silver tableware which not only because silver is symbol of affluence, but also because they think that to use silver scoop to feed the baby can dispel serious illness. “At that time, people do not know silver can kill bacteria.” A.Bart Flick, orthopedist and wound expert in Crichton of Georgia says. Flick often uses silver to cure local wound, he says: “it is obvious that silver is good for health but no harm. Therefore people regard silver as safe metal.”
Nowadays, purpose of silver is becoming even wider, for instance people use it to prevent infection of eyes for newly born babies, cure burn and produce ionized bleaching water and so on.
